Starting treaty negotiations
Generally, to start treaty negotiations, leaders of the most influential countries (mainly US and China, followed by the rest of the G7 countries) need to be pushing for it at relevant summits, dialogues, UN General Assemblies, conferences, intergovernmental forums, etc., or start new initiatives for these dialogues to happen.
This page should go more into detail on these events, their outcomes thus far, specific countries’ leadership’s positions on an AI treaty, what could be expected to get more leaders on-board, etc. Also needs more external resources. It should perhaps be merged with or have more to differentiate it from International AI negotiations.
